EDAA Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient of 2004
The winner of
the second EDAA Lifetime Achievement Award is Prof. Hugo De Man
of IMEC, Leuven, and the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. Hugo
De Man has made outstanding research results in an exceptionally large
number of areas, including
- the modelling of
semiconductors,
- the design of
analogue, mixed mode and digital circuits simulators,
- research on the
specification, verification and synthesis of telecommunication-oriented
design,
- novel
system-level optimisation techniques.
Prof. De Man
successfully combined
his work on design
automation with that on the actual design of electronic circuits. As a
result of his influence, several companies have been founded. Also, his
mission was to bring universities and industry close together.
